The highlight of the Braga Economic Forum was the BioMedTech Hub. This project, which is set to transform the city and the region, is led by InvestBraga, through Startup Braga, and will have an investment of 6.1 million euros - 65 per cent financed by EU funds and 35 per cent by the municipality. The centre will be located next to the Braga Forum, with construction scheduled to begin in 2026 and start operating in 2028.
‘With more than 4,500 m² spread over three floors, this will be a space prepared to support research and development and technological experimentation, enabling the incubation, acceleration and scale-up of technological startups in this area of enormous potential,’ said Ricardo Rio, who also emphasised the role of the facility in advanced training and the enhancement of knowledge.
The project brings together strategic partners such as the University of Minho, INL, IPCA, CCG/ZGDV, the Braga Academic Clinical Centre, P-BIO and companies such as SilicoLife, PeekMed and F3M.
The strong performance of Startup Braga was also emphasised, with a community of 275 startups and a total of more than 491 million euros in investment raised, reinforcing the city's position as a European hub for technological innovation.
