We Can Charge raises investment from Portugal Ventures

We Can Charge, startup of the community of Startup Braga, is one of the most recent bets of Portugal Ventures. The company joins the catalogue of companies of the venture capital company through the INNOV-ID call.

Created with the aim of democratizing access to charging solutions for electric cars, through the profitability of private supply stations, We Can Charge's technology can, as Ricardo Carvalho, founder and CEO of We Can Charge, says, "be integrated into any existing charging station and a normal socket, being the solution transversal to all types of customers and scenarios. As an example, he highlights that "the startup has already helped restaurants, hotels and commercial spaces to create and monetize private cargo networks, and now intends to reach other sectors of activity, calling for the adoption of sustainability policies based on electric mobility. "Our mission is to boost the creation of these networks, totally autonomous and decentralized, increasing the supply available to users and generating a source of income for the owners of the charging stations," adds the entrepreneur.

Ricardo Carvalho also stresses that the investment now raised will allow "We Can Charge to solidify its technology, increase its team and invest in the expansion of private charging networks". "We want to reach, in 2021, the first 100 charging stations and intelligent sockets installed", he adds.

Idealized in 2018, the startup began as a community of users who offered their own stations so that others could charge the electric vehicles. In order to facilitate the process and automate it, We Can Charge was born, responsible for making possible the activation of the charging stations through the mobile application, also allowing the user to pay the charge through debit or credit card and facilitating their billing.

It should be remembered that the INNOV-ID call, launched by Portugal Ventures still in 2020, had the objective of integrating startups in a pre-established phase in the company's portfolio, whose technology was already developed, but in the prototype, proof of concept or market validation phase.
